Island Lighthouse Expert!
Learn about
local lighthouse history, construction, illumination, research,
preservation, and the lives of real lighthouse keepers. Includes classroom sessions, hands-on
work, and trips to lighthouses.

Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society, and sponsored by the US Lighthouse
Society, Harbour Lights,

Lighthouse Graphics, and Great Lakes Lighthouse Research.
Long Island Lighthouse Expert
Certification Course
Presented by the Long Island Chapter of
the US Lighthouse Society
This in-depth course is designed for lighthouse tour guides, educators, and
anyone interested in lighthouse history. Instruction will be given by local
lighthouse experts using lectures, slide presentations, hands-on activities,
printed study materials, and visits to local lighthouses. General American
lighthouse history will be discussed, with an emphasis put on its reflection
in the Long Island, New York area. Topics to be addressed are shown in the
schedule below. Those who complete the course will be well versed in the
subject and will receive post-course support if needed, in addition to a
certificate of completion and a T-shirt designed exclusively for this
course.
